Heaven on Earth.

  • I did not promise you Heaven on Earth,
  • But I promised to be true.
  • Our love was a joyful birth,
  • Being true was the easiest thing to do.
  • I promised for richer or for poor,
  • Somewhere in the middle, a pretty good score.
  • Then there was for better or for worse,
  • Did I ever give you grounds me to curse.
  • Of course in sickness or in health,
  • All was well until illness crept in by stealth.
  • With children we were never blest,
  • God knows we did our very best.
  • A good home life was ours,
  • I sometimes strewed your path with flowers.
  • We stuck together through thick and thin,
  • All together our life was just one big win.
  • We had our love we had each other,
  • Nothing could our happiness smother.
  • We held hands walking down the street,
  • Friends we make with the people that we meet.
  • Our love shows in a beautiful glow,
  • Kisses we often to each other did throw.
  • Our marriage was not made on earth,
  • Heaven showed us our real worth,
  • No I did not promise you Heaven on Earth,
  • We both know that this was a sacred birth.
  • You my first and only love so sweet,
  • I prostrate myself at your feet.
  • Looking forward to a few more years,
  • We have overcome our youthful fears.
