The Glynneth Woods

Beware the forrest after dark

When night creatures come out to play

For dare ye journey into the wood

Ye may ne'er see the light of day

For in that thicket they come out

Creatures, both great and small

They scavenge the ground in search of food

When the leaves dare to fall

Yet on those nights when the moon's full

And hangs on a pitch black veil

Tis rumored that's when "they" come out...

Tis rumored ye can hear them wail

The mournful cries of those lost souls

Who dared enter Glynneth Wood

Ne'er again to see or be seen-

They met up with no good

What lies beyond the darkened trees

And patiently waits for the traveler lost?

No one dare to tempt the Fates-

Afraid of their final cost

So hear me well, young man at arms,

Though strong and courageous ye be

Stay well away from the Glynneth Wood

Or the "thing's" dinner ye'll be

Heed this old woman's warning!

Stay thee from the woods at night

Keep thyself to the roadside camps

And another day ye'll live to fight.

Author's Notes/Comments:

The barony of Glynneth is the setting for the romance stories I have been working on.  The Glynneth Woods is just beyond the outter walls of Castle Glynneth...and tis rumored to be haunted......
