STAY THE NIGHT

I SLOWLY BEGAN THE STAIRWAY CLIMB

I SAW THE DOOR AJAR

I LISTENED VERY QUIETLY

I WONDER WHERE YOU ARE

THE STAIR IT CREAKS AND  STARTLES ME

MY PALMS BEGIN TO SWEAT WHY AM I SO FRIGHTENED

I AM NOT EVEN THERE YET

I REACH THE TOP AND TAKE A BREATH

MY HAND IS ON THE DOOR

WHAT LIES BEYOND IS WHAT I WANT

I CAN'T TURN BACK NO MORE

IT OPENS UP AND THERE YOU LIE

WAITING JUST FOR ME

CAN I DO THIS NOW I ASK

YOU BECKON SO GENTLY

I LIE DOWN NEXT TO YOU

YOU WHISPER IN MY EAR

STAY THE NIGHT MY DARLING

YOU HAVE NOTHING TO FEAR

I GIVE TO YOU MY LOVED ONE

A MOUNTAIN OF DELIGHT

AND I WILL TRUST YOU FOREVER

STARTING WITH TONIGHT

Author's Notes/Comments:

THIS POEM IS LIKE MOST OF MY POEMS THEY JUST COME TO ME IN OBSCURE TIMES NOT ALWAYS TRUE BUT LIKE AN ARTIST I SEE THE SCENERIO AND THE WORDS TUMBLE DOWN .

On reading this poem I try to imagine myself in both the subject and the poet respective positions. They both appear to have waited a very long time for this moment, one can feel the air of emotion and anticipation as the person ascend the stairs all the time knowing that what lie ahead could spell trouble but not able to resist the temptation. All in all a very good poem which hopefully will inspire others in similar situations to follow their true feelings and not live to regret not taking an opportunity. Yes a very inspiring poem.
