AND YOU HAVE BEEN THERE.

I needed a listening ear.

I just needed a friend

and you have been there.

I needed someone upon whom I could depend

to yell, “Foul,” when I messed up;

I just needed a friend.

I was searching to develop

real trust in a friend who would be willing

to yell, “Foul,” when I messed up.

Needing a friend to be encouraging,

as I attemped something new.  I needed

real trust in a friend who would be willing

to try to understand the heated

argument going on inside of me,

as I attemped something new.  I needed

you just to be there.

I needed a listening ear

for the argument going on inside of me,

and you have been there.

Author's Notes/Comments:

This is dedicated to my accountability partner, Steve.  Thank you for just being there.
