I WILL RUN THE RACE

Rockin Ron & T. W. Smith

I will run the race

I can get ahead, if I

fall, I will get up .

I will run to get the prize.

I will not run aimlessly.*

Let’s lay down the weight

of sin.  Run fast, hard, strong.  Run

for sin holds me down.

Jesus, take this weight, Lighten

my load, Let me persevere.

I fell many times

many at the same places.

I need your help there.

You are my Lamp.  You light my

path.  With You, I can leap walls.**

You are here with me.

You know what’s ahead of me.

What was behind me.

Never will You leave me, nor

forsake me.***  I am your child.

Ready, get set, go.

I’m off. I run the long race.

Running gear is on.

Feet shod with the preparation

of the gospel of peace;****
