Euro trip
You are living the dream of your life. You are in Netherlands doing your exchange program. You have been meeting a lot of people from different countries. You have been living there for a month now and you have your group of friends. You just realized that a holiday week is coming and you start to plan what to do. You and your group of friends decide to go to Italy. What a dream! You guys decide to buy just the airplane ticket because you want to do what is called “Euro trip”. The day has arrived and you are in the airport waiting for the plane that will take you to Milan. After four hours you are in Milan watching everything, you are surprised about everything and now Milan is the most beautiful city you have ever seen. You have been there for two days now when you decide to move to a different city. After thinking about it for an hour, you and your friends decide to go to Florence. What a wonderful city! There is a lot of culture there and the people there is kind so you think that everyone in Florence will help you in case you need something.
You and your friends decide to go to the train station to see the schedule for the day and to buy the ticket that will lead you to Florence. You are there, without understanding a piece of Italian language because they don’t speak English and that is when you get stressed about your Euro trip. Finally, you hear a little bit of English and you decide to follow you ear to get closer to that sound. You are there and you see a man in the Tourist Information station. You feel alive thinking that finally someone will help you and your Euro trip dream will be back. You start asking the man what are the best options if you can to get to Florence. For your surprise, the man is not kind at all! He starts yelling at you, telling you “What do you want?” You are feeling very confused about the man’s attitude. You answer him saying “I just want to ask how can I get to Florence from here” And the men says, “Are you kidding me? I’m here just for specific questions, I am not your mom to teach you what do you need to do first”. You are angry now; this is not supposed to happen. “Sorry, I honestly don’t know nothing about Italy, that is why I am here because I want to travel around this Country which I consider a really beautiful Country, please can you understand this?” The man is laughing now and he in a impolite way says to you “Oh, how sweet you sound, I imagine how difficult is to you to do the famous Euro trip, you guys don’t know nothing about life. You think you can take a plane to one Country that you have never been before hoping that everyone will help you just because. What a trick! You don’t know nothing about life” You start to recognize that doing the famous Euro trip maybe was not the best decision you have made. You recognize that you can’t travel the world hoping that everyone will support you, everyone will help you and everyone will like you. You stay quiet for minutes and then you say, “Well, I think I can understand what you mean and maybe you are right. I am just a young guy who wants some adventure and who wants to create some really good memories but I know that you are right, the world is not like this. If you want to have a really good trip you must plan it because this is how life is, you can’t expect that everything will be fine just because you want it to happen, you must need to do some effort in order to get what you want.” The man is surprised about the guy’s answer. Then he says, “Well maybe I was rude but honestly guy you can’t travel around the world like this, something bad can happen to you, for your own security you better check everything before you decide to go to a different country alone with your friends”. In some way you feel better now, knowing this before something bad happen. “Thank you so much” That’s the only thing you say.
