LOOKING AT MY FEET

Folder:
POEMS FOR ME

Keep a stiff upper lip,

Keep your head held high.

I think it such a farce,

Because I'll never look up again.

I want to look at my feet.

I'm not with poor self-esteem.

I'm just redirected, in a plan,

I think that better suits me.

As long as my head is high,

My eyes are open wide.

When people walk by,

My heart always goes out,

Being the care taker I am,

My feet follow...and my heart falls away.

Taking me to places I shouldn't be.

(Perhaps, that is why one shouldn't wear,

Their hearts on their sleeves.

They fall off or get stolen.)

At these times,

I'm sure God lowers his head,

And wonders when I will wake up,

Because I surely must be sleeping where I stand.

I thought it uncanny,

The kings address:

When he said,

"When we walk alone,

We see the snakes in the grass.

WE FEAR GETTING BIT.

But when we are blindfolded,

And guided through the gauntlet,

With Rattlers Hissing,

Cobras Spitting,

Our sensory perceptions are cut in half,

Because there is no image to see,

We can only hear.

And ever more completely can we with-stand the fear,

When we are holding our Lords hand."

When my eyes are on my feet,

There is nothing to see...

But my own business,

And I can take care of my own needs.

My eyes upon the Lord,

I never need to be afraid.

He will protect me from the con artists,

And keep me from self destructive ways.

That's when Love must come my way...

When I am not looking for it,

But only on my feet.

Because then,

I hear the voice of the Lord...

ALWAYS TAKING CARE OF ME.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Distractions are distructive, Self- Esteem is a revolutionary, and to be honest with ones self is to over come the subjective.  It is the subjective that promotes our un-true, un-authentic selves.  Why do we listen to it?
