SHE HAD MY LAST NAME...

Folder:
LYNN

When I turned the radio on,

A song played in profound refrain.

Talking of a man who's last name,

Brought him heart ache from a bully,

His father said "...don't hang your head in shame."

That it was his grandfather who took it to Europe,

Fought a war and now lays in a cemetary grave.

He decided he may not make it famous,

But he wouldn't bring it shame...

It was his LAST name.

I cried at it's full cirle message,

As it was the only thing he could give...

To the woman he loved the most in the world...

If she'd only agree to be his.

How I wish I could have had the chance...to take mine back.

I never did like it much,

But the reason is over what my father lacked.

While talking to my friend,

My ex told her,

"I'm going to take her last name,

Even though I don't think we'll make it that far."

Why did you take it anyway...

I may not have made it famous,

But I wouldn't have brought it shame,

You took without loving me...isn't it all the same?

Go ahead and hate me,

And detest the person I am...

But you weren't worthy of my LAST name--

YOU WEREN'T EVEN MY FRIEND!
