The Sidewalk

It lies between two hearts

Two doors stand one at each end

Each heart growing ever weary

Of the constant pain within

One heart wishes only to leave this world

The other heart prays each day

The heart at the other end of the sidewalk

Will find the courage to want to stay

Each day the heart is told that walks

There is nothing it can do

With the ending of yet another day

The heart begins to wonder of the truth

It is hard to watch the candle burning

As each day it flickers and grows dim

Hope is replaced with fear and tears

In the daily prayers with Him

And yet each day the sidewalk waits

The bridge between two lives

One life refusing to even try

The other life dreading the good-bye

When the day is over

And each step has found it's place

The sidewalk waits just beyond both doors

To be walked yet another day

How many days can the steps be made

Upon this narrow path

Before one heart opens the door at it's end

To find the other heart has passed

Then one heart will always question

"Is there not more I should have tried?"

When one heart tied the other's hands

Was there really no way the hands could not be untied

Each day a little harder

Than the day before

For the heart that walks the sidewalk

Knows it is loosing the final war

Dear Lesa!

A meaningful psychological exploration
of our human existence in all of its
realistic predicament as we journey
through this experience called life!

Deeply touching and searching in
its own style of creative and
heartfelt rendition! It breaths
and leaves the reader pondering
about life...

Dear Lesa,

I it is a mixed emotion that boil in this poem. Emotions of sadness despair and love. What a painful path is the sidewalk. But I think it is beyond our love and despair. It is a path that would be all should go through to walk the same walkway. It is a poem that provoked me to thing how unfair life can be when separating us in such away. What would count after all are the love, care and hope. That will always remain no matter where the sidewalk shall take us. Great poem my dear! God bless you.
