"An Answered Prayer"

Folder:
For All My Exes

I see you in the middle of a crowded street.

Time stands still.

God, it's been so long.

Questions flood my mind,

The pointless ones that hold no meaning

Yet mean the world:

  How are you?

  Have you been well?

Has life been treating you good?

But...

I'm too stunned to speak.

So, I bow my head, close my eyes,

To gather my thoughts

And then look up...

all a second too late.

When I look up,

You are gone.

I let the moment pass me by.

I thank God for my answered prayer,

But I should have been more specific:

I wanted more than just to see you.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I wrote this for Brandon W.  I honestly regret letting him go.

a simply stunning poem.
makes me feel the pain of
the "words not spoken".

Stunning...
