To My Little Boy

I watch you tread the streets

Afraid that you might be gone

I scatter to see the faces filled with

Glee and I know it'll be fun.

Your laughter and smile puts joy

In my heart I know forever

Is the time that you'll remain

And nothing can ever erase it.

I've been longing to caress you,

Attend to you and care

You speak of such things that I know

May lead to...nothing? I don't know.

But...a simple greeting is all I get

You must remember things I cherish

This illusion of mine is so surreal

For you are somebody else's little boy.
