Please let me hold you once again

Just let me hold you once again,

Pretend you love me, be my friend.

Lie beside me through the night,

Our favorite song, our fading light.

Trace my fingers, stroke my face,

Carry me to that sacred place.

Where every kiss felt soft and true,

And time was kind to me and you.

Hold me close and feel my breath,

A fragile warmth defying death.

Remember how it used to be,

A quiet world — just you and me.

So rest your head and close your eyes,

My heart still speaks, it never lies.

But if goodbye must be the end,

Please let me hold you once again.

Pretend you love me, just tonight —

A borrowed dream before first light.

Be my solace, softly then…

And let me hold you once again.
