The culture worships snakes and reptiles in general, because felines have a habit of stalking reptiles when hunting, my char, angelica, is found with a large dead snake, who in reality was her lover and some rebels killed it and hurt her, however the people who find her think she and the snake had been fighting and she killed it, but was hurt.

Now they take her to the snake pit where a naga is there as a 'god' like how things were in Egypt, but different. The male naga is in a pit with other snakes and some how he can tell she did not really hurt the snake, so they do not hurt her, instead he ends up trying to sire with her or something.

She is still knocked out from a drug they gave her and is tied down, nude, to an alter like stone when she wakes and sees the snakes around she realizes where she is and her face gets that look of some one who knows she is going to die, that serene peaceful surreal look of a person who has come to terms with her fate, only to have the naga take a liking to her and keep her for himself.
