THAT NIGHT

Dire moment, last goodbyes,

Your kiss, your dance like fireflies.

I’m gone tonight into the dark unseen,

I wish to take your light with me.

You were my first, but it won’t be our last,

Time travels till it’s in the past.

You’d think our love was some thickening plot,

They don’t know that it’s all that we’ve got.

The night grows colder as I walk away,

Still wishing somehow that I could stay.

I carry your memory deep in my heart,

No miles between us can tear it apart.

Tomorrow may take me where I’ve never been,

But I’ll hold on tight to the love that we’re in.

And somewhere beneath this same endless sky,

You’ll still be with me though I’ve said goodbye.
