To forgive

I came to this world.
Air.
My lungs gave into instinct,
crying out; alive.
Yet,
as the years passed,
this Mind expanded.
Awaken above animal.
To the cosmos,
To reason.

Wonders of the universe,
Big questions,
small enough to ignore.
Questions. Answers.
Praise. Admiration. Love.
Always love.

Perfect circles,
of love and praise.
Ignoring the human flaws,
and molding the perfect sculpture.
Always perfect,
Never human.

I am my own man.
Never perfect,
Always human.
Not detached,
but aware.
Old enough to see,
Young enough to misunderstand.
Wise enough to comprehend,
Foolish enough to regret...
Regret... Anger... Sadness...
And regret... always regret...
I grieve the loss my soul has felt.

I am not the only bird,
Sad and alone,
with broken wings
Now,
with the light on my face,
there is hope.
Light... Warmth... Strength...
To move on; fly away.
To see inward,
as well as outward.
To welcome life once more.
The sun. The blue skies.

To mend my own wounds,
To heal my own scars,
inward and outward,
I forgive.
First, myself.
Then, you.

My chains are broken.
