A Better World

After a “typical” lifestyle, Sawyer was exhausted… All the troubles of the world had made him think that he just wanted to die; he just wanted to escape from all the stupid stereotypes of the world, those looks and especially from the people that never used the “power of humanity”...

He hated to see how the world was becoming more and more useless, how people became dumber and lazier. In contrast, Sawyer had always been kind of a philosophical person; he observed everything around him and analyzed it in order to understand what was inside people’s mind.

He was a successful engineer with a beautiful wife and three little children, with friends that respected him; even though his life sounded good for most of the people, he didn’t think the same way.

All his life he had convinced himself that happiness is obtained by oneself, and shouldn’t depend on the other people, because in his opinion, one must be happy even if one is alone in the world; he tried to ignore all what was happening to people, how they became more useless and did not take advantage of the power of the mind. Nevertheless, one day he stressed out too much because his secretary had mailed some work to a wrong direction; he exploded and yelled to the secretary telling her how useless she was, until she got out of the office crying.

At his house, he started to think why these people existed, why they, already being adults, still didn’t think over as one. Although he fired the secretary he said it will be pointless because maybe she would get another job and would keep making stupid mistakes and stressing more people. He started to think in all the ignorant people that didn't use their mind to make their decisions... A peculiar thought crossed his mind; he couldn't believe he was thinking in that. Although he based his mind in realism, he was kind of a religious man and always tried to be friendly to other people, to help them and support them; he respected the other human’s rights and accepted that all humans made mistakes, but these people were a mistake!

So he decided to do it... He was not going to be an assassin, or not an ordinary one; he would specifically select the people that was totally useless for the world, those people that their only job is to make other people's life harder and destroy our world with their foolishness. He stated he was going to give these people a one month trial for them to change or to see an effort for making use of their mind; and if in this trial they didn't achieve that, it would happen...

He rehired his secretary in order to experiment with her; of course, she didn't know anything at all.

On the period of time Sawyer had stated in order for her to change, she always worked harder and harder and it seemed that she was changing... until one day that she screwed another big work. Very irritated, he wanted to kill her immediately, there at his office, but he couldn't do it because then he would go to jail, so he placed a small portion of ricin on her coffee. In three days she died because of a terrible "flu" she had gotten.

After this, he hired another secretary; this one was very successful and always made her work incredibly good. Yes, there was a sad environment because of the recent death, but after some days it was all better than before, the work of the department was better than ever and they were more kind to each other because of that. He had made a better World for all the community.

The results of his actions were very pleasurable, so he tried it again, this time with his neighbor. He started to do it with many people, until one day he concluded that the world couldn’t be more perfect than he had made it, but there was one human that still remained among people with his stupidity… his father in law.

He killed him in a reunion, with the same substance he had used for the others.

After some months, he felt the happiness of the world, the efficiency of the people was amazing; the world was becoming the paradise, he thought.

One day, he came late from work and found his wife asleep on the bed. When he laid down, he stayed there thinking of his amazing wife; she had an incredible mind that inspected everything, even better mind than his, that’s what had made him fell in love with her.

Finally he closed his eyes to rest when he felt a quick move and saw his wife with a knife… stabbing him on the chest. She said “I understand why you killed all of them, believe me; don’t worry, I am not doing this because you killed my father, none of that; as you did, I am making a better world by eliminating people that just worsen the human kind”.
