She loved all that was good…  Exemplifies her life

It showed in all the things she did… through happiness and strife

A baby born to loving parents… on a morning cold

GOD sent this little angel… the warmest heart to yet unfold

This beautiful young toddler grew… the world to explore

Delight was shared by father and mother… a daughter to adore

Her life began in Idaho… alongside siblings she did grow

The family moved onto Utah… with “Miller” honey bees in tow

For this very inquisitive child… who had a thirst to learn

Beyond ABC’s and 123’s… a gentler lesson she did return

‘Twas values taught in her parents’ home… that Mildred did embrace

Hard work - work hard – then a little more… Everything in its place

Yes, this sweet teen was taught… to Love and Serve the Lord

Good Works, Faith, and Charity… is where her spirit soared

A young woman with a thirst to gain… more than a “Mighty Farmer”

More schooling as a Nurse Cadet… now she’s wearing “Red cross” armor

Little did our “Millie” know… that at a nurse’s dance

Dashing young Mel Van Den Akker… was making his advance

Love began to blossom and grow… between “Sweet Millie and Mel”

Forever eternal companions… Marriage and Sealing in the Salt Lake Temple

The family values taught… by their Father’s and Mother’s before

Became the heartbeat in this home… Where LOVE is at the core

The years pass by to quickly… But blessings found their way

Their home was filled joyously… By Marie, Celia, Jed, Ted and Ray

The gift she had for nurturing… unselfishly she did share

For it would be with patients… that this humble heart would care

GOD blessed this Chosen Daughter… her life story did unfold

I am but one small voice… yet her story must be told

A child who was loved through life… knew little of her future

Yet Mildred touched so many lives… To know her was to LOVE her
