Beside Me Too

Slowly from the corner it falls

Tracing a silent path down my cheek

With the back of my hand

I gently wipe it away

Only to have others follow it's path

Softly...silently...the tears fall

We are unknown to each other

And yet your presence is... Beside me too

Deeply inspired by what I am reading

I am humbled at the written words

Before me... an "exceptional man"

Has penned his soul bare

I close my tear-filled eyes

Once again the tears silently fall

Offering the Lord a silent prayer of gratitude

Bless this man... Beside me too

All around me... overwhelming

The silence is loudly deafening

And yet... I hear your voice

Though no words have you spoken

You have called again

As resounding as hummingbirds wings

Faintly calling out to me

So profoundly spoken be... Beside me too

The depth, breathe, and meaning in his words

He writes of his childhood, his youth

Of laughter, sorrow, choices, joys, and fears

His successes, failures, his life's challenges

This "exceptional man" who has accomplished so much

Has an inner child who questions his own worth

A child that cries for acceptance denied

This man...still cautious... beckons come... Beside Me too

Your words have transcended beyond you

As a child too aware of a heavy burden

You have been tempered by life's experiences

Some reminding you of man's weakness

Some of man's cruelty and injustice

And yet others of man's capacity to care

Like an Aunt and Uncles' nurturing support

Or a Grandmothers "unconditional" love... Beside Me too

Carrying the world on your broad shoulders

Often times confused, silent and alone

She showed you a world of promise & possibilities

And the strength of character you built within

You have traveled to far off lands and places

Intrigued by the diversity, cultures, and people

Discovering that "exceptional man" within

Your Grandmother felt... she knew he's... Beside Me too

I open my eyes and begin again to read

The words profoundly penned there before me

They are surrounding me...enveloping...drawing me in

Why have these words so touched me Lord?

They have somehow left me exposed and raw

With such joy, tenderness, and yearning

I have climbed some new precept...yet not moved

Does he call in whispered voice... Beside Me too

Warmly embracing you and new-found friendship

We have talked...laughed...snored...and cried

Shared dreams, our passions, hopes, and desires

You have touched me beyond the physical

Your words from the heart have captured my soul

And your voice has reached me to the very core

Dare I dream to gaze into your eyes

To discover that "Exceptional Man" within... Beside Me too

Oh to be embraced within the strength of your arms

Your touch firm and strong, your caresses soft and gentle

To feel the beating of your heart under my fingers

Lovingly holding your heart close to mine

Feeling your lips on mine... your breathe upon my skin

You have beckoned me with your soul

Called to me... A man who is seeking to find

The "Unconditional Love" found... Beside Me too
