Taken

I rest here, gazing,

As the sun dips in golden splendour,

Tracing back to those by-gone days,

When you and I were together.

Wondering why the cruel fates,

Took you away from me.

We laughed, sang, danced and ate,

'Neath the shining moonlight,

And when the stars glistened like jewels,

We slept under their eternal blanket.

The days were long, the season was friutful,

As we treked with our companions,

Ne'er knowing where our destinies would take us.

Alas, your flame died far too early,

Your laughter still lingers in the air,

I can hear it now, echoeing through my mind,

Lingering like a leaf caught in an autumn breeze.

Now I stand here alone, broken,

But the fire still burns in these eyes,

And I shall keep you locked away,

For all seasons and time.

Waiting for that one day,

That far-off summer night,

When I will lay down and rest.

Then, my beloved, we will meet again,

Ne'er to be separated.
