My Love

The golden sun warms my fur

As I sit here all alone.

Thinking back to those wondrous days,

When you and I were together, my love.

Your laugh was as light as an autumn breeze,

Your eyes shone like emeralds,

Paw in paw as we treked along the dusty path,

O'er mountains high and fields of green,

And resting by a crimson fire.

I wrapped my arms around you,

To keep you safe and warm,

Your beating heart echoeing in my ears,

And a smile dancing on my lips.

Sleep now, my love, let your dreams roam free,

I will protect you from harm, have no fear.

I shall be your Saviour.

But evil, that merciless shadow,

Cast its wickedness upon this land.

We fought for our friends,

For good and peace, hope and justice.

We shall rise above all and triumph.

Alas, the seasons can be cruel,

As your spirit was lifted up high,

Your sweet voice was silenced forever,

You left too early, my love.

Now I'm here, without you,

The harsh reality of being a warrior.

And always living with this regret,

Not saying the words my heart longed to share.

Nobeast can know the pain I feel every passing day,

But I shall keep your memory locked away,

In a secret place in my heart.

And when my seasons have run,

And death furls its wings around me,

We will reunite once again,

My Love.
