Together

No more will you feel pain and suffering,

As you rest 'neath the soft earth,

Your spirit is finally free, my friend.

To roam the sunny pastures far away.

I place a flow'r on your grave,

As my mind wanders back to those days,

When you and I marched on our travels,

Singing, dancing, laughing, smiling.

Aye, we were the best of mates.

But the fates can be cruel, alas,

As you were taken away from me,

Now I stand here alone, broken,

With nobeast to dry my tears.

Rest peacefully, my friend,

Share the long sleep with others,

Whose own spirits have traveled off,

To the waters of eternal shores.

And when my seasons have run,

And death embraces my weary body,

When my heart finds peace at last,

We shall walk the rainbow of freedom,

Together.
