“Grandma’s Hojarascas”

 

There is no better way to resemble a fine nigh at my grandmother’s house than hojarascas; if there was a word that would mean her house was hojarascas. It is indeed one of my favorite foods and I feel it has some special meaning when I think about it. It really reminds me of those horrible Sundays turning into great Sundays just by going to her house. Years ago the whole family would go to my grandmother’s house every Sunday and have a great time; of course I was always pissed at myself because of me not doing the homework any other day than Sunday. But once we got there, I greet my family and went straight into the kitchen and they were there waiting to be eaten with those beautiful flower design. My grandmother knew I liked those, I have been eating those all my life as long as I remember (since kindergarten) so there was a low chance not to see them. After eating a ton of those petals I would feel relieved and happy going back home. It was something special because every time I see or eat one of those it reminds me of those early days; I feel now’s not the same because being of the youngest in the family would mean that my cousins and brothers would probably not go due to work.
