At The First Poetic Inspiration I Had From Saint Jude's Epistle

[May, 1976 to January 3, 2016]

Servant of Christ, and most esteemed, Saint Jude:

my first poem on your brief, but powerful letter

was clumsy, halting, uninspired and crude;

an adolescent's vain attempt to write

your words in verse, an unintended slight

to Scripture's absolute priority.

Not meant as insult, or as blasphemy,

and the result could have been done much better.

Written just after Easter's annual jubilee,

the poem sought to pursue Milton's direction.

But after some six months' hard introspection,

I realized it was not poetry..

Your words, inspired, will last eternally

without least rearrangement made by me.
