Dreaming Of Angels and Enlightenment (While they laugh at us)

Oceans of grey and light
Engulf me
Your wings stretching
Towards the horizon
Each feather tells a story
Every line another dawn

Show me into the light
And with that all shadows of grey
That never lie or explain themselves
No need to

You look down on imperfection
From heights we wish to fall from again
Please take my hand towards the sky
And whisper me all your secrets
In a language I can't understand

I wish to be a part of your grace
To walk with the angels
On a transparent world
I stand so solid and yet so far
Out of my reach out of my world
I look to you

I can not fly towards you
I can helplessly jump on the spot
To be ever so closer
The ground beneath me giving way
I cry out to you to hear you say
"Isn't it a shame you must fall before you can rise"

Author's Notes/Comments:

I wrote this a few months ago while just watching a cloudy day go past. The strange thing now is that the state of mind of the person in this poem is actually quite accurate to someone I care about now. The original tile I had for this poem was "The Angels are Laughing at us". But I like the idea better that some people spend their whole lives looking for a greater purpose in life and in doing so they miss the whole point of life which is "to live one" and make the most of it.
