Grow

I step out of the car,
Finally crossing the boundary.

My feet touch new, unfamiliar ground.
My lungs take in new, fresh air.
My eyes see new, friendly faces
Beckoning for me to join them.

I turn to face my parents:
Mom, tearing up;
Dad, looking proud.
I hug them both and say goodbye.

Goodbye, Mom. Goodbye, Dad.
Goodbye, home.
Goodbye, Past.

Hello, fellow freshmen. Hello, roommate.
Hello, college.
Hello, Future.
