Explode

I’m tired of the way I feel
Couped up inside
Like a pack of dogs whose worth is only in the blood and offspring
And, the happy homes they produce
And, the wagging tails that seduce our minds
That 2.2 kids and a fence turns a house into a home
Or, that beneath the pile of dirt, the buried bone
Will hide the fact that love’s still not quite what we dreamed of

I want to explode
I want to come alive
I want to know
Why so many believe in love and I still don’t

Where is it written that it’s better to have loved and misplaced
Cause, I’d rather pay that price
Just to know whether or not I truly do agree

I want to explode
I want to come alive
I want to know
How many people feel they’ve lived when they die

I want to explode like a galaxy into the great expanse of the unknown
I want to come alive and turn this salt pillar into breathing stone
I want to know that there’s more to life, the moment, in this life, my eyes close
