The Hunter and The Hunted

Maybe I should tell you how I’ve been spinning

In a room so still even crickets forgot to sing

And, then there you were

The moment my life reversed

And, I was petrified

In a room doubling as a centrifuge

The moment your eyes hit mine

Like a bullet following the crosshairs

You changed my life right then and right there

And, right now I know my life will never be the same again

As fog escaped my lungs

Twigs and leaves, noisily beneath my feet

Trying my best to divert attention from me

Just as I heard the cocking of the gun

It was too late to run

And, I was just another deer in the headlights

The hunter and the hunted connecting eyes

Just before the sparks began to fly

A voice intersected the two about to change each other lives

One getting and one giving life

Maybe that’s what love is

Two completely opposite competing for the same thing

Unknowingly

And, maybe that’s just what love is about

Two absolutely opposite appreciating each other differently

Similarly

So, maybe I should tell you how I’ve been spinning

And, how you’ve been the only stability I’ve ever fully known

So, maybe I should tell you how I once heard a voice tell to me

And, how it told me I’d get my life back if I’d only give you my own

So, here it is now… yours from me

And, now yours alone
