Dandelion Umbrellas

I’ve been running the roads held within my shoes

Thinking my own willpower would show me the correct road to choose

But, I have learned just how slight the power of my own will really is

When I chose to choose the ditch out of fear of the direction the light would lead me in

Down here, the weeds are all bending with the wind

And, in the dark even my best decisions leave me scared

And, now, all these thorns and thistles are touching my skin

So, I guess this prayer on my lips is the only hope I’ve got left

Take me to the place the dandelion umbrellas float to

Somewhere high in the sky

Somewhere where the moon mysteriously ties

Her leash to the ocean tides

Somewhere where I can dry my eyes

And, see the light without starbursts stealing its intensity

I’ve been searching my chest for the hidden heart I know that’s there

Shoveling debris from the wound so it can finally be fully repaired

And, I have hope that someday it will be healed

And, finally be strong enough to disperse the love it feels

So, take me to the place the dandelion umbrellas float to

The same place tethered kites fly as they search for truth

Just cut my string before gravity resumes

So, I can find the source of the light of the moon
