Earthquake

Gone away with all my wishful thinking

The ways of innocent dreaming

That once brought me close to you

They tore me away after tasting that simple truth

But, I’m not giving up

Cause, that’s not who I’ve grown into

It passed far beyond my expectations

The burning sun breaking the snow horizon

From atop the mountain my heart arose from hiding

The clarity of hope soaked my soul

And, I awoke

Alive and breathing

Hallelujah, I never knew how much an earthquake could move

Hallelujah, I never knew a valley could kiss the moon

Or, that a soul could rise so high after falling into the thick and dark gloom

Now, some might call it “a new beginning”

But to the forgotten, it’s just remembering

And, I’m just now finding my feet

Learning again how to walk and let my own heart speak

And, now I know

Hope is just a turn of a leaf away

If I were a betting man

Would I bet on you and me

Roll the die against misery

And, hold the hope that eternity knows

The outcome its fate controls

Hallelujah, I never knew how much an earthquake could prove

Hallelujah, I never knew a valley could kiss the moon

Or, that a soul could rise so high after falling into the thick and dark gloom
