Breath Breathe Cold

The car began to drive me
Unconsciously, the rubber met the road
Miles to relive, memories to let go of
Your ocean eyes still won’t let me float away
On the white tipped waves
That carry the red tipped spear you abraded
My chest years ago

Now just a heart with a hole
I turn to see your forearm bruised and an empty bow
But, I will not stop loving you
No, I will not stop loving you
Until the arrow makes my breath breathe cold

Laughter in a storefront window
What a clue, even mannequins imitate you
Shattering the calm, flattering the gloom
It’s still hard believing on this side of the glass
That truth itself can’t fog over the past
Like a best friend with the firmest grasp
I refuse to let you go so easily

I’ve been pedaling this two-wheel machine so hard I’m beginning to feel the disease
Addiction seduces its victim as the cadence proceeds
It’s such a sick cycle as the chain increases in links
Just like blood to arteries to veins back to the wellspring
It’d be a continuing effort to forget your soul
If not for this heart with a hole cooling the air I breathe

Now just a heart with a hole
I turn to see your forearm bruised and an empty bow
But, I will not stop loving you
No, I will not stop loving you
Until the arrow makes my breath breathe cold
