How Dare I

How dare I remain here doubting

Trembling even without a cross to bare

Such conviction in their shouting

As their voices ascend high with Him into the air

I am a Doubting Thomas, needing proof

But, who am I to test the One who gave His life for mine

Shattered in my existence, He made me new

As He took my hand and open my own with His eyes

Lord, Your Love is the proof of what Your Love can do

How dare I stand here idly

Fighting my fear, when He said He’d provide

Me with words in their proper time

So that He could lead His lost sheep by His Spirit’s guide

I am a Martyr like Peter, not recognizing consequence

Three times I denied Christ, only to have Him comfort me

And, I will pay the price for the Lord’s justice

Crucified head-first, unworthy of my Lord’s own suffering

Lord, Your Love is the proof of what Your Love can do

How dare I remain here doubting

How dare I stand here idly
