A Prayer Soon Rising High

Goodbye, may be

Better than forever overflowing eyes

Goodbye, say we

Tried it for a short-lived while

To give context to our doubt

To take what’s curved and straighten it out

To search our souls until we’ve found

If love would sprout if we found the light

We're trying so hard to find

Quickly, a single speck of dust illuminates

From the first ray piercing the morning sky

And, suddenly, the world begins to shine

Even before the burning ball

Crosses the horizon line

Pathways, my feet

Were born to blister overturning time

Pathways, my knees

Bore the burden of prayer-filled sighs

In the presence of dimming shadows

In the rising of dark, smoking billows

In the depths of a minds gallows

I found desperation to be a beautiful sign

Of a prayer soon rising high

Tears and ash

Such a terribly, graceful mask

Tears and ash

Turning pride into a humble request

Of sweet forgiveness

Quickly, a single speck of dust illuminates

From the first ray piercing the morning sky

And, suddenly, the world begins to shine

Even before the burning ball

Crosses the horizon line
