The Pursuit Of Happiness

I don't have to bring my smarts

to a learning session with my friend God;

Instead I go forth in all my stupidity,

my unknowingness, my 'wouldn't even

venture a guess'.

God loves that I come prepared with

empty pockets.

You can count on his reflexive need to

fill you up, ha ha ha.

I like to play poker with him using matches.

Whoever retains the most matches at the end,

has to search out places on earth that need a light:

-old forests-

-people fading away from 'ennui'

-virgins on their wedding night [Hey! It still

exists in our imaginations.]

I usually can't remember the rules of the game,

but I still win sometimes.

Once he sent me home with a gift:

It was a button with the legend:

"I have no opinions".

He said it was like earning a Merit

Badge in 'Thinking'.

I always leave- not smarter, but happier.
