Dead End

Dead End:

So this is what it feels like?

To reach the end of the road

Through thick and thin

Moutain or valley

The road had always been there

It had been your guiding hand

Your seeing eye

And your hearing ear

It had provided you refuge when you where tired

And fed you when you where hungry

And when you needed it most,

It ran its course, going no further.

So this is what it feels like?

To reach the end of the road

To know every crack and crevace

Every brick and mortar

Every weed and flower

Every critter sharing the road with you

The road that got you to where you are

The road that helped you every step of the way

So is this what it feels like?

To reach the end of the road

To stand at the end feeling down,

Feeling like going no further

Feeling like no one can help you

Feeling betrayed by the road that gave you so much.

Is this what it feels like?

To find another road

Under the brush,

Nice and new and here for you

Now you begin your journey beyond the dead end,

But don’t forget about the road that got you here

The road that taught you what it felt like to reach the end.
