A star.

When you we're small,

I read some books on the stars in the sky.

I learned to identify most of the bigger constellations.

I'd smile and think to myself,

how I'd teach you and how much fun we'd have.

They have story's, you know.

I picked a star for you,

a star for me,

your sisters,

one each side of you.

Never got to teach you...

Your star is the second from the end of the big bear's tail.

You could find the name if you look.

My star's up there, too.

If only we could shine like our stars, huh?

Do you know, I will probably love you,

longer than that stars up there.

That star was there.

when you were born.

When you called me, and begged me to come save you.

When I did.

When the dark came down... and I called out for you.

And it will be there when I do something I can't put down here.

And it will be there long after I'm gone.

Just dust, at peace swirling through the night sky.
