A Bus Ride from Penang to Melaka

Penang which is the island of modernity and old world charm is located in the sub region of Peninsular Malaysia. The best time to visit Penang is between the months of November to January and March to May. The weather here is always pleasant. The city is divided into two parts – Penang island which also included the city’s capital George Town and the other part is Seberang Perai. The city has been dubbed as the Pearl of the Orient and also the Silicon Valley of the East – thanks to its ever progressing commercial centres and the industrialised states that have a thriving economy. Upon visiting this city you will realise that although it is quite modernised today but as you dwell deeper within the city you will see that at its heart it is still a city that embraces and acknowledges its old customs and traditions.

The population is vastly heterogenous owing to which several different languages are spoken here. Hence it is not a surprise that Geoprge Town which is the capital city has been listed as the world cultural heritage site by the UNESCO. The city also offers some of the most stunning views of the sparkling coast of Malaysia as you travel alongside its road. From parks to beaches, Penang will not fail to astonish you on any front. If you are one of those who like to live in the lap of luxury you can choose from its wide range of 5 star Hotels. This includes the famous Seven Terraces in George Town which is one of the most well equipped and modernised hotels in Penang. However there are also some budget friendly options like Hotel Royal Penang and the Rainbow Paradise Beach Resort. Although light on pockets these hotels do not fall short of any modern facilities. After my 15 day tour in this city it was time for me to visit my next destination, Melaka which is one of the most beautiful cities of Malaysia

Based on my previous experience I headed straight to this website https://www.redbus.my/bus-tickets/penang-to-malacca to book my bus tickets to Melaka. As per the website, there were more than 7 Operators. Plus Liner, Kbes, Trans Nasional, Nice, Qalaf Express, Cepat Express and Star Mart Express were the ones having daily buses on this route. Since it is only a 4 hours journey between these two cities there were limited luxury coach operators. Nice, Plus Liner, Star Mart Express were some of them. The cost of tickets for a luxury bus started upwards of MYR48 where as those of executive coach operator’s start from MYR35. There are buses starting from 12:00 am midnight until 11:00 pm. Since the duration of the journey is 4 hours make sure not to leave during peak hours as the 4 hour journey might get extended to 6 hours. I found the ticket prices to be quite reasonable as well as the quality of service on the Plus liner coach is top notch.
