On the outside

Folder:
Self-Harm

On the outside I'm functioning,
on the outside I'm smiling.

On the outside I'm just fine,
on the outside I'm faking.

On the outside I'm happy,
on the outside I'm strong.

On the outside you can't see the tears,
on the outside I'm not slowly dying.

On the outside I'm not lying cold and alone,
on the outside I'm not broken.

On the outside my heart's not frozen,
locked away to prevent more damage.

On the outside I'm caring,
on the outside everything matters.

On the outside my heart is still beating,
my wrists are not slowly bleeding.

So why can't the inside
be the same as the outside?
