My first best friend

Folder:
Friends

I thought of you today,
the first friend I had in New Hampshire.

I was alone, nobody saw me,
nobody but you.

Joined a Boys & Girl's club,
just to make friends.

Learned to play pool,
ruled the fooseball table,
we always played teams.

We were inseperable, you and I,
went everywhere together.

We used to cut across the field,
heading to town, uncaring.

Trying to wrestle eachother,
I always won, laughing and joking.

With you my sadness went away,
I was only happy.

We'd go to McDonald's,
walk around town, sit by the pond.

I remember when I laughed so hard,
the time you hit a duck on the head,
just throwing rocks, you hadn't meant to.

If I saw you on the street,
would you recognize me?

I'm not the same anymore,
not the girl you used to know.

Darkness has clouded my heart,
something you never saw in me.

You were my best friend,
before my life fell to chaos.

Do you remember me?
I can still see your face,
remember your smile.

Did you resent me, because I moved,
how I wish I hadn't.

I miss you, my first best friend,
the first guy I ever cared about.

I hope I meet you again, one day,
if only to see that smile again.
