Test Driving Love

She came through the door,
and knocked me flat.
Then she left me alone,
with a broken down heart.

So I sleep with anyone,
that dances like she did.
I can close my eyes,
and be with her again.

Racing and reaching,
trying to forget her.
Afraid to think she was IT,
and I let her get away.

I try to talk to my friends,
but I know I'm not making sense.
Addicted I can only think,
of the fix I am missing.

Tonight I slide into the club,
needing another distraction.
To forget the wildfire,
she left burning in my heart.

Dancing drowns the memories,
that pulse to this chaotic beat.
Relief and angst are exchanged,
every other booming second.

Just one more drink I think,
one more grind, one more kiss.
Till I find a brighter light,
that keeps my bloodshot gaze.
