NOW ALONE

NOW ALONE

(T. Beechey)

An elderly man with his wife in the park walking hand-in-hand just after dark

Come face-to-face with their greatest fears: an attack from one who then disappears

The man survives but she does not,the cops keep assuring that he'll be caught

The man has questions which nobody solves...now alone he waits as the world revolves

A young woman with kids no older than five finds her husband gone, how will she survive?

He left sometime in the middle of the night and took almost everything in sight

Now the babies are crying, the dog needs a bone, all her neighbors have problems of their own

Who will she turn to? What about her needs...now alone she sits as the world proceeds

A little boy looking up and down the sidewalk of folks passing in his town

From the left and right, they just go by and all the little boy can do is cry

He went to the store with his mother, she was going to buy something or other

She went in,he walked past the store...now alone he walks as the world ignores

A young man lying in a hospital bed, legs both in casts and a bandaged head

He went overseas to a foreign land to help strangers who wouldn't understand

A land mine buried beneath the ground gave no warning except a faint click sound

Just one in a million American vets...now alone he lies as the world forgets

A minister at the altar kneels while speaking words he hopes will heal

For the vet,the boy,the woman, the man --- somehow they must fit into His Plan

As tears stream down upon each cheek,he wonders how things became so bleak

How will each manage their heavy loads...now alone he prays as the world implodes
