PRETTY WOMEN

mom never felt easy about

sister's near-perfect face.

so much she has heard about pretty women

getting the lose deals of the world.

starting from her favourite drama

about legendary beauty Tang Dynasty's

Yang Qui Fei the concubine

who was offered a rope to hang herself for leading the emperor astray from duties.

And signing herself onto quite similar fate

our very Diana who twenty odd years walked

so graciously down the aisle with the man

whom she thought loved her only to wake up

with a shattered fairy tale dream in

the coldest palace in the world.

And Marilyn Monroe, the sultry goddess

of the silver screen, ran from one man

to another looking for a security that

always eluded her. Opportunists used and traumatised her - all for the premium features she possessed.

pretty women, what hideous traps those

beauty features hide. i understand what

mom meant when she said the world is

full of ugly men and pretty women usually

turn out to be their victims.

POEM TWO:

human thrives

those alive should call for celebrations

each year for their place

in this fragile world

remember the black death

that claimed half of europe

and now sars has come to remind us again of

our vulnerable constituents

that could break down

anytime against any virus

that succeeds to mutate to escape our defences

and the fights we have against each other

our colours, our creeds

are manifesting themselves in Iraq,in terror,

the human race should find

the world a battlefield in

its own aggression and

viruses of similar behaviour
