Tis better to want in lustful longing,
than live free of passion's unquenched fires,
for what in life is worth the pains;
more than a fool's wreckless, heart's desire,

when one forbbidden moment, of lovers' entwined,
could be the flame that lights the pyre,
of which all master-works have been inspired,

the ghost of one last yearning kiss,
has always built; brick by brick, the highests spires,
and what songs would move the soul,
without love's bitter- oh so bitter-
sweet denial...
