That Green Plant

Folder:
Short Poems

You swept through like a breeze
You left me out to freeze
You left me for a plant
But I just can't
I wish you hadn't, but you did
We were just kids
That plant was green and a little mean
You were just a teen
It took you over and killed us
I don't mean to fuss
But it really hurt
You kicked dirt
When we stood outside
That's when I finally cried
You did nothing but say we were finished
That we were diminished
The look on my face must have been suppressed
Because you went west
Leaving me for that plant again
I know I'm being very vain
Thanks for all the pain
