Let Us Live

People think that I’m all better- Boy how wrong are they,

This is far from the best way of living, but it’s the only way.

The only way I know, the only way I’ve ever had,

And when you think about what I just said- It seems so very bad.

Sit down and talk to me, then tell me what you think,

Stop and stare into my eyes- Do you see the pain inside of me?

Do you feel my hurt when you start to read these words,

These are my cries for help, but for the un-trained ear a sound isn’t heard.

I’m like the spokes person for millions of kids who are feeling the same way,

Life isn’t a blessing for them- And they dread waking up everyday.

We hear the same shit every single day- “Life is what you make it, and you’re

making it this way.”,

Who are these fuccin idiots and why is that all they say?

Do they think that we choose to have a fucced up life,

Do they think we want to stay up crying every night?

You’ve got to be kidding, you’re just joking right?,

You can’t be that stupid to think we like this fight.

Ignorance is bliss and you’re a very blissful person,

Now shut up and read, I want you to feel this hurting.

We want you to see our tears- Want you to face our fears,

But it’s not the same, you get to leave- We’ve been stuck this way for years.

At any giving point you can put down this poem,

You can go back to your life and leave ours the fucc alone.

You say you understand and you know that isn’t easy,

Well I’m sorry I beg to differ- You won’t understand until you can be me.

Walk a mile in my shoes- Live a day in my world,

Be inside my head- Watch my emotions un-furl.

Until you can think my thoughts- And see with my eyes,

Fight the battles I’ve fought- And hear the lies that I lied.

Or pick another person who feels this way,

Step into their world and live their Life for a day.

Sit down and listen to them- Hear the pain in their voice,

Watch their body movements- Then tell me this is a choice.

It’s a curse that we’ve been blessed with- The life that we were left with,

Life is a bitch and we’re just trying to live it.

Author's Notes/Comments:

This poem was written for all the people who say that depression is just some phase. We don't choose this Life and if we could we'd change it.
