The Stockings Were Crooked

Folder:
Holiday

The stockings were hung,

All in a row.

Two red ones, a green one,

One with a bow.

They looked picture perfect,

Tacked to the wall,

Except for being crooked,

Which nobody noticed at all.

The stockings were filled with goodies,

From candy canes to toys.

A little doll for the two girls,

And a few Matchbox cars for the boys.

When morning came,

And the kids awoke,

They saw the lovely stockings,

And with hearts of gold, they spoke.

"Oh Mommy, Oh Daddy,

Look what Santa brought!

He brought toys, he brought candy,

He brought us a lot!"

Their parents just glanced,

At each other with a smile.

For the happiness they just witnessed,

They haven't seen in quite awhile.

And under the brilliance,

Of the gorgeous Christmas tree,

Were many wonderous presents,

Wrapped up beautifully.

It simply was magical,

I wish Christmas could stay!

Although the stockings were crooked,

It was a beautiful Christmas Day.
