Freedom

Porcelain skin stained with tears
Covered in scars created by one's fears
Puffy red eyes with dark bags under there
Mud and leaves tangled in matted hair
Swollen lips now turning blue
Arms too tired to reach out for you
Dull gray eyes where bright blue used to be
A broken heart wishing to be free

A voice too shaky to be understood
A life too fragile to be too good
Wanting to survive but feeling too weak
Hoping you'll notice this child so meek
A bruised little girl or a bruised little boy
Broken and beaten and used like a toy

This is able to happen because we are blind
But if you open your eyes to see what you can find
The path to freedom for these children you will pave
And from their pain and suffering, they will be saved
