Disbeliever.

They say I am a poet,

their words I don't believe.

They say my work is very good,

I think their tongues deceive.

Every plaudit kindly given

leaves me riven, with distrust.

Poets held in high regard

with them my work discussed.

They tell me, truly I can write,

yet how can I allow my mind

to trust that they are right?

Author's Notes/Comments:

I doubt I will ever believe I have any right to call myself a poet, I wonder if others feel like I do.
