Ignorance

The river streams along

And there’s a mist in the air

With the feeling

That nothing can go wrong

I watch as the fish swim

And I hear the birds chirp

And I’m quiet

Without saying a single word

Seeing this wild life

Of animals at ease

I wonder why most of

This world is not at peace

It’s such a busy world

on the other side of this life

So much hate in the busy world

Then everyone wonders why

Smelling nothing but fresh clean air

And seeing nothing but the crisp blue sky

There’s so much discomfort

And now people still don’t seem to care

To know the reason why

Author's Notes/Comments:

I wrote this in July 2001 and then September 11th happened and I re-read my poem and I was like wow, how weird it seemed.
