ARLINGTON

I knew for sure

t'was hallowed ground

that we were standing on

where now lay these soldiers

in eternal rest

that died for peace and home

The crosse's here, lined row on row

as far as eye can see

to think you went and gave your life

that we could all stay free

Oh, brave soldiers of America

you were so strong and true

and bright corillion bells ring out your praise

when every day is through

A national cememtey, now your home

a place of quiet rest

for pain and love bind each one here

and we know you've all been blessed

May God keep you safely in His arms

till we meet again on heavens shore

may you be happy there at home

and may you hurt no more

Here hero's have been laid to rest

in this old sacred ground

and the sound of taps and marching feet

is heard

as the centuries make their round

I'll ner forget you, friend of mine

on the day you went away

proudly dressed in Army tan

for orders you would obey

and oh, my friend, you did come home

and you haven't really died

though you came home draped in our flag

wrapped up in your countries pride

Now, we'll keep old glory flying high

the good old stars and bars

we salute you

so let's keep our loved ones in our hearts

tho they fly among the stars
