The city never sleeps,
but plods into decay; numb
Apartment towers with gangreen,
shadowing causeways,
whose lanes go four and two and one and
dirt.
leprosy.
It fades back into daylight
where the country sleeps
and never dies,
but never lives;
a useless preservation.
The clouds change form.
Give us dogs.
Give us Idaho.
But that doesn't mean anything here -
Here, where the city that never slept
is slowly put to rest.
